In the spring of 2023, at the UNESCO World Heritage site Ninna-ji Temple, we produced the food design and table coordination for the event “My JAXURY NIGHT in Ninnaji.”
This event was held as part of the JAXURY project, which seeks to redefine authentic Japanese luxury, and took place in the temporary “NINNAJI JAXURY SPACE” within the temple grounds.
Together with our in-house culinary team, we presented a new style of shōjin-ryōri (Buddhist vegetarian cuisine). By blending traditional ingredients with contemporary sensibilities, the dishes offered guests a fresh dining experience and received an enthusiastic response.
Through this endeavor, we explored new possibilities of Japanese aesthetics and culinary culture, expressed within the historic setting of Ninna-ji.
