OUTLINE
Harvest Journey Kameoka is a project that seeks to weave lasting connections between people and place through the experience of travel in Kyoto’s Kameoka. Beyond the framework of conventional tourism, it presents a new way of journeying—one that also fosters collaboration among local businesses and cultivates a new community within the region.
We participated in the overall planning and direction, designing the process much like composing a narrative through continuous dialogue with the people of Kameoka. By inviting artisans and cultural practitioners to open their work and share it with visitors, the project creates a cycle in which local resources are reimagined and emerge as new forms of value. This circulation lies at the very heart of the initiative.
One tangible outcome of this process is the website Harvest Journey Kameoka. Through art direction, we gave form to the project’s narrative, connecting travelers with the region by means of refined visuals and thoughtful language.
Just twenty minutes by rapid train from Kyoto Station, Kameoka opens up beyond a quiet gorge, offering a place where one can encounter seasonal living, traditional craftsmanship, and freshly harvested food. Such experiences awaken the senses and reconnect “you” with the town.
This project reinterprets the heritage of the region, presenting a new style of travel that reimagines the relationship between people and place.
