OUTLINE
When a major retrospective of Toyo Ito, one of Japan’s most celebrated architects, was held in Shanghai, I was responsible for the planning, direction, and production of the video installation and interview film.
The exhibition title, “On the Stream,” derives from a Chinese proverb. It metaphorically framed the 46 years of Ito’s architectural practice as a meandering river flowing through a vast 1,200-square-meter gallery space, where the trajectory of his design philosophy was presented as a continuous current of ideas.
